For an echo, you'll lie on an exam table on your left side, while a sonographer applies gel and moves a small transducer probe across your chest to capture real-time images. This exam typically takes 20–45 minutes and is painless. After the study, the images are reviewed by a Cardiologist who prepares a report and then sends it directly to your referring physician, typically within a few hours!
